There are many large irrigation districts in Xinjiang.Irrigation agriculture has developed significantly since 1949,and will continue to develop rapidly with the implementation of large-scale efficient water-saving irrigation projects in the future.Water-saving irrigation limits the amount of irrigation water,and according to the complementary relationship of evaporation,it may lead to an increase of potential evapotranspiration,which may have a negative impact on water use in irrigation districts.Therefore,we should consider the change of potential evapotranspiration caused by the development of water-saving irrigation in Xinjiang irrigation area,accurately predict irrigation water demand,and achieve a reasonable evaluation of water-saving irrigation effect.In this study,the change law of potential evapotranspiration in the development of water-saving irrigation in Xinjiang was analyzed.Taking Awati Oasis Irrigation District in Xinjiang as an example,the agricultural water consumption in arid irrigation district was analyzed in detail,and the water consumption were simulated in Runoff-evaporation hydrological model fo oasis.Two evaporation complementary models are used to verify the evaporation complementary relationship and evaluate the effect of water-saving irrigation in arid irrigation district.The main conclusions are as follows :(1)Classify the cultivated land area around 64 stations,calculate the potential evaporation by Penman formula,analyze the change rate of potential evaporation by Theil-Sen estimation and Mann-Kendall method,and then reveal the influence of water-saving irrigation on potential evaporation by comparative analysis.The results showed that with the increase of agricultural water consumption,the potential evaporation of agricultural stations showed a significant downward trend,and with the development of water-saving irrigation,the potential evaporation of agricultural stations showed a significant upward trend.With the change of agricultural water consumption,the potential evaporation of natural stations has no obvious change trend.The difference between agricultural stations and natural stations shows that the development of water-saving irrigation in Xinjiang has significantly increased the potential evaporation in agricultural areas.The development of water-saving irrigation changes the potential evaporation by influencing aerodynamic term
