Résumé
The continued growing in agricultural activities in east El Minia areas has
consequently increased the water demands. Consequently, in order to meet
these demands, groundwater exploration, exploitation and evaluation are
focused. The present study is therefore conducted to give an insight on the
geomorphological, geological, hydrogeological and hydrogeochemical settings
of the study area. It also deals with the effective factors on the development of
water resources in the study area.
The study area occupies an area of 6288 km2. It lies between longitudes 30°
44 ̀ 35 ̏ E and 32° 27 ̀ 45 ̏ E and latitudes 27° 55 ̀ 40 ̏ N and 28° 38 ̀ 4 ̏ N. It is
characterized by arid to semi-arid, hot climate, rainless in summer with rare
precipitation in winter. According to the Egyptian Meteorological Authority,
El Minia station (1982-2017), the average annual rainfall value for the last 36
years ranged from 0 to 3.9 mm/year. and the annual average air temperature is
about 22.04 oC, whereas the annual average relative humidity at daytime is 35%
and the mean winds velocity riches average about 16.7 Km/hour.
