Résumé
Turkish Republic of Northern Cyprus (TRNC)is one of the limited water resources countries. The main reason of water scarcity is that the island has semi-arid and arid climatic condition. The Cyprus is warm and rainy in winter an d hot and arid in summer. The rainfall is not uniform during the year due to arid climatic conditions. The water is vital important factor in agriculture and depends on precipitation. The main water resources at Cyprus are ground water sources and there is seriously depletion in past 25 years. Sea water sometimes reaches the ground water and causes water quality problem . The annual water potential of TRNC is 107 million m3 and 97 million m3 of this is available which of 80 million m3 ground water and spring and only 17 million m3 of surface water resources. Agriculture plays very important role in TRNC. Approximately 40.4 % of the population are at rural areas and 14.50% of deals with agriculture. The agricultural export of TRNC is 41% so it is the proof of importance and potential of agriculture at the country. The total land of TRNC is 329.890ha and which of 187.168 ha arable land . In considering climatic conditions, water and soil potential, good management of soil and water resources are very important in TRNC.
