Résumé
The frequency of drought occurrence is increasing at an unprecedented level in the world, particularly in Ethiopia, and the response of the government is inadequate, making the intervention of international agencies mandatory. This study assesses the effectiveness and the role of Save the Children International, in response to the 2015-2016 drought taking Shinile district of Somali region as the study area. The data were collected through a semi-structured questionnaire, Focus Group Discussion and Key Informant Interview and was analyzed using descriptive statistics. The analysis is conducted through SPSS software and excel sheet. The study indicated that the Save the Children response was timely, relevant and appropriate at scale and drought response in 2015-2016 was effective and efficient. However, it is recommended that the drought responses should be connected at the recovery phase.
