Résumé
The soil is very important in maintaining life in the ecosystem, and humans depend directly on this natural resource, but the misuse and mismanagement generate damage to the environment. Erosion is one of the most significant impacts on the soil resource, affecting its basic capabilities in the ecosystem, as well as impairing its function as a support for agricultural and forestry activities. Among the types of soil erosion, water erosion contributes most to soil degradation, especially in the northeast - NE region of Portugal, due to favorable topographic conditions and soil physical properties. The main objective of this work is the study of the hydrological processes associated to water erosion of soil samples by laboratory rainfall simulation. The soil samples were collected at Quintela de Lampaças, Bragança district, in a burned area of 2017. The effects of soil conditioners were tested, in this study using polyacrylamide – PAM. Runoff, splash, soil loss and infiltration were quantified after 30 min rainfall simulations at 74 mm h-1 intensity. From the results of this study, it can be concluded that PAM application for reducing water erosion impacts on soils of burned areas is effective, mainly in what regards soil loss and splash.
