Description
The project aims fits directly the targets in the National Biodiversity Strategy and Action Plan which was adopted by the Government of Lebanon through a Council of Minister decision in 2018 in terms of institutional, legislative as well as implementation objectives. It aligns with the Sustainable Development Goals of 2030, particularly goal 15 which aims at protecting terrestrial ecosystems.The project development objective is to strengthen the resilience of targeted Natural Reserves (NRs) and communities living around their boundaries. The project aims in that respect to enhance MOE stewardship in line with binding international legislations over actual and future NRs by strengthening NR governance, management, monitoring and knowledge practices to promote sustainable conservation, to improve livelihoods and to deploy risk mitigating measures. The project will achieve its development objective through 3 interrelated outputs. Each output will include capacity building activities that would strengthen and ensure the sustainability of the programme
