Emergency food assistance in Yemen
Titre : Emergency food assistance in Yemen
Pays /Région : Yemen
Date : September 2021 // April 2022
Descriptif
Emergency Relief and Development Overseas is supporting International Training and Development Center with an eight-month humanitarian food assistance project.
Continued conflict in Yemen has resulted in around 21 million Yemenis (66% of the population) in dire need of humanitarian assistance. The depreciation of the Yemeni Rial is also a major driver in food security as food prices have increased and continue to rise substantially. Consequently, millions of Yemenis are unable to afford enough food to get through the day.
In response, this project aims to increase immediate food consumption and reduce negative coping by providing some of the most vulnerable people with in-kind food transfers for eight months. Food distributed includes wheat, beans, oil, sugar, and salt.
7,800 people (1,200 households) will receive this assistance.
