Food assistance in Woldiya District (Ethiopia)
Titre : Food assistance in Woldiya District (Ethiopia)
Pays /Région : Ethiopie _ Localisation : Woldiya District, Amahara Regional State
Date : March 2022 – January 2023
Descriptif
Mennonite Central Committee Canada is supporting Ethiopian Mulu Wongel Amagnoch Church with an 11-month food assistance and agriculture and livelihoods project in Woldiya District, Amahara Regional State, Ethiopia.
Food insecurity has spread across the region as a result of limited harvests that were hampered due to the Tigray conflict. The conflict also reduced and/or depleted essential services such as markets and forced people to flee their homes for safety.
This project will first work to address immediate food needs by providing five monthly food baskets to vulnerable households. To address longer-term food security challenges, some households will also receive essential agriculture inputs and livestock which will help re-start their agriculture livelihoods and crop production.
Additionally, the project will support the community with trauma healing and peace building interventions to sustain communities’ long-term food security.
The project aims to reach 256 households (1,280 people) with activities.
