Development of a new low-cost solar collector for driving small solar steam pumps
Titre : Development of a new low-cost solar collector for driving small solar steam pumps
Pays : Ethiopia
Date/Durée : 2009
Descriptif
With financial support from the TRIODOS foundation PRACTICA has developed two models of solar collectors : a fixed and a portable version of a linear Fresnel reflector to concentrate sunlight to produce steam. The steam is to be used to drive water pumps. The work was mainly done by PRACTICA and two students of the Delft technical university.
Activités
* A desk study to find out the possible options for steam generation with solar power ; * Production of a test set-up for different solar collectors ; * Laboratory testing of a range of solar collectors ; * Field testing of a range of suitable solar collectors ; * A recommendation for the best solar collector for use with the micro solar pump in terms of costs, performance and portability.
Objectifs
To optimize the solar collector for small-scale irrigation pumps in developing countries.
Budget : 12,000 euro
