Descriptif
The proposed 6 months intervention is a school feeding project for vulnerable school children that will cover three schools in refugees’ camp of Danamadja and Kobitey in Gore area in South Chad. The project budget is CAD 128,890.21 (approx. 100,000 USD). The project aims to ensure improved education and health and nutrition needs of school-age children in two refugees’ camps (Danamadja and Kobitey) in Gore area. The interventions expected outcomes are 1. Increased enrolment, attendance and retention rates amongst the children in the target schools 2. Increased use of mid-day meals and related services and supplies by school children enrolled in the targeted schools 3. Increased participation of PTAs and school administration in management of school feeding program in the project target schools. The project will support the refuges, returnees and host communities to be able to deal with pressures arisen from their living condition and provided a strong incentive to retain children at school. It allows children to focus on their studies rather than their hunger and contribute to increasing school enrolment and attendance rates whilst decreasing drop-out rates, and improving cognitive abilities. The project target is a total number of 4,617 school children (2,640 Boys, 1,977 girls) who are enrolled in 3 schools distributed in 2 refugees’ camps namely Danamadja A, Danamdja B and Kobitey. The project main activities will include : Supply of school feeding commodities, supply of cooking utensils and dining materials, deworming, provision of hand washing facilities and materials, training of PTAs and teachers on FFE, school hygiene promotion and monitoring & reporting The project will be implemented in coordination with the school PTAs and school administration and local communities.
