Descriptif
This project is proposed to be implemented in Elkare and Meiso (Mule) woredas (districts), located in Afdher and Siti Zones respectively. Both proposed woredas are among the 83 woredas recently classified as hotspot priority one in Somali Regional state of Ethiopia for humanitarian response intervention. Islamic Relief (IR) has presence in both districts and has been implementing projects focused towards responding to emergencies, resilience and development. Objective 1 : To improve the health and nutritional status of children under 5 years of age and pregnant and lactating women (PLWs) and reduce child morbidity and mortality related to malnutrition through rapid emergency response treatment and prevention activities. Objective 2 : To strengthen the capacity of district Health Offices to treat and manage acute malnutrition using community-based management of acute malnutrition (CMAM) and infant and young child feeding in emergencies (IYCF-E) in primary health care services. Objective 3 : To increase access to adequate sanitation to address drought affected communities and promote safe hygiene practices in Elkere and Mieso districts.
