Descriptif
The climate in Yemen varies greatly depending on the geographical region. During the winter season, the country experiences coolness, with frequent frost. The range of temperature can go from 22°C (72°F) during the highest temperature in winter, into below 0°C (32.0 °F) at its coldest. Rain is brought in by the southwest winds. Rainfall, which comes in irregular heavy torrents, averages 130 millimetres (5.12 in) annually. Winter 2018 was very hash and difficult to most of the people in Yemen especially orphans, IDPs, Special Needs, poor and vulnerable families in war affected communities. Winter 2019 is expecting to be worse if not the same due to the severe drop down rate in temperature especially during the night. The extremely cold weather has increased the suffering of the poor who are already suffering because of the on-going war and more specifically our sponsored orphans as they lack the necessary winter clothing and blankets to keep them worm during this season. The project represents one of the IR Yemen humanitarian interventions that aims to reduce the suffering of severely conflict affected people in Sana’a, Taiz, Amran, Dhamar and Sa’ada governorates and to avert the risk of humanitarian tragedy and loss of life during the winter months, particularly between October and February through distributing winter NFIs Kits assistance to 4220 HHs including IDPs, special needs, orphans, poor and needy in conflict affected communities. The project will provide each family with winterization kit consisting of 2 blankets and 2 mattress and a package consists of (2 socks, 2 gloves, 2 hats and 2 scarves). Thus the expected number of beneficiaries is 29,540 ? individuals.
