Présentation
The Food and Agriculture Organization of the United nation (FAO) emergency project seeks to protect and restore agriculture and livestock based livelihoods of 14,00 Vulnerable farming families affected by drought and already food insecure living in the following provinces ( Herat, Ghor, Jawzjan, and Nimroz) Under this project the proposed intervention include the provision of agriculture inputs and livestock protection services and inputs, such as distribution of concentrated animal feed, certified wheat seeds, fertilizers, fast- growing fodder crop seeds and water extensive vegetable seeds. Concentrated animal feed will help restoring the deteriorating health and body condition of vulnerable farmers, complemented with livestock protection service that include treating animals with deworming (around 49,000 animals and vaccination ( to be covered by another FAO project) against the main livestock diseases, suchas foot and Mouth disease (FMD) and Pests de Petits Ruminants (PPR). Oxfam provides those assistance to 4,000 drought affected families only in Shiendand district of Herat province.
