Nébéday will inform, raise awareness and educate people about Nutritious foods. The association will promote and enhance the value of local foods and value chains such as Moringa, Monkey bread, bissap, honey, fish, Shellfish, etc.)
The Strengthening Basic Food and Nutrition Needs Covering Project for2,000 poor and very poor families in the rural communities of Medina Baffé, Dakateli, Bandafassi, Bembou, Kevoye, Missirah, Neneficha and Kedougou commune, Kedougou region aims to to contribute to Senegal’s food and nutrition security. It targets State actors (decentralized services of the state, local governments), civil society organizations (peasant organizations, national organizations, chambers of agriculture, women and youth associations, grassroots community organizations and especially smallholderfarmers : 2,000 households (or 20,000 people) poor rural communes above.The project is articulated around 1) direct food and nutritional support to the most vulnerable families to enable them to have a minimum of during the lean season 2) support for theimprovement of agricultural productivity through the training and provision of cereal seeds and vegetables with high nutritional value and adapted fertilizers, 3) information campaigns, Education and Communication (IEC) with target families on hygiene, access to drinking water, hand washing, integration foods of high nutritional value in their food systems, for the adoption of new behaviors conducive to adequate nutrition ; 4) Advocate for greater consideration of food security and nutrition issues in localpolicies and plans, in order to actively support the establishment of mechanisms that promote access for poor farmers, especially women and men. young people, factors of production (land, credit, inputs and agricultural tools, water points, administrative procedures, etc.). This process will be based on existing consultation frameworks, in particular the Departmental and Regional Development Committees, the groupings professionals, women’s groups and village committees. The project will build from the outset on defining a baseline situation and participatory assessment of the capacity andvulnerability of Kedougou populations, with a focus on participatory targeting and will focus on women and men. young people who suffer more than others the consequences of poverty
