Présentation
Women in central Sudan harvest forest products for income and food but stay poor, as men retain most of the income, and because collection and marketing are unorganized. This project
creates women-led associations to collect, store, process and market wild fruits, gum Arabica and honey, and to share what they learn with other villages. The community agrees on how natural resources will be used. A small grants fund helps participants start individual small businesses. A revolving loan fund promotes alternatives to firewood and charcoal for cooking, reducing deforestation. The project aims to boost women’s earnings and help them start their own businesses.
Mise en œuvre : The Near East Foundation UK
Financement : Charity Projects Ltd (Comic Relief)
Budget : 1 107 693 USD
