Présentation
At present girls in Kwale, a poor district near Mombasa in Kenya, are leaving school at a very young age and very few even complete their primary education. This is due to poor teaching, high levels of abuse of girls in schools, and strong pressures on them for early marriage. This project will work with teachers and girls in schools to improve girls’ educational performance and with communities to improve girls’ status and to help make them more aware of their rights. The aim is to get more girls to stay in school longer, to encourage them to wait till they are mature before marriage and childbirth, and to improve their chances of finding a job..
