BOP Al Amana Microcredit Morocco
Titre : BOP Al Amana Microcredit Morocco
Pays : Maroc
Actual Start Date : 2022-06-27
Identifiant IATI : XM-DAC-903-SII-45575
Présentation
The project entails an IFC investment in Al Amana Microfinance (Al Amana or the Borrower), one of the leading microcredit association in Morocco to support its lending program to income
generating activities including microenterprises that have been negatively affected by the COVID-19 crisis. The investment will be provided in Euros (EUR) or US Dollars (USD) for the maturity of up to three years and will be part of IFC’s Base of the Pyramid (BOP) program.
Objectifs
The project will provide financing to micro-enterprises located in Morocco, and the most significant expected project-level outcome for the project is : improved access to and quality of finance for microenterprises, including women microentrepreneurs. The income streams of microenterprises have been severely affected by the lockdowns, increased uncertainty, and a slow-down in economic activity in the wake of the pandemic. As the economy begins to recover, microenterprises need access to funding to finance investments in inventory and inputs to resume economic activity. In this context, the project supports Al Amana, one of the largest MFI in the country, to provide much-needed financing to assist microentrepreneurs especially women, who are less than half as likely to get access credit than men, in overcoming liquidity constraints and returning to their previous income generating capacity.
