Présentation
IFC is considering to provide financing of up to US$24 million to support the expansion of Zalar Agri, a producer of high-value fruits and nuts in Morocco. Zalar operates 16 orchards with a total land area of 1,372 hectares and planted area of 741 hectares as of 2018.

Objectifs
Project outcomes : The Company will increase direct and seasonal workers by 400 mostly in rural regions of Morocco. Today, 40% of Zalar Agri’s workers are women. Moreover, at the holding level, 35% of the Company’s top management is composed of women. In addition, Zalar Agri expects up to 1,600 indirect jobs would be created among sub-contractors and suppliers.

Contribution to Market Creation : Through the Project, IFC expects the Moroccan date sector to be better integrated into global value chains, through demonstration and replication effects, as Zalar Agri extends the product range by relaunching the production of premium variety dates (Medjoul).
