Résumé
The outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic and the lockdown by the Government of Jordan limited the mobility of all Jordanians. As a result, residents were only able to access places within their walking distance. While there are already limited public spaces in Jordan, the COVID-19 outbreak further emphasized the lack of green public spaces that are accessible in many neighbourhoods across the municipalities. Research by Gehl emphasizes the essential role public spaces play in a pandemic and concluded that there is a need to redefine, adapt, and amplify the current role of public space. The World Health Organization recommends a minimum of 9 square meters of functional, safe, and accessible urban green spaces for each city. While there is a lack of research on the availability—or the lack thereof—and the consequential impact of public space outside of the Greater Amman Municipality
