Description
In this project we will closely investigate the Earth surface processes interrelationships associated to hyper-arid soil-landscape systems. Using an innovative luminescence-based approach combined with numerical modelling, we will be able to identify Earth surface transport mechanism, to quantify associated process rates and to pin-point potential tipping points that control the evolution of hyper-arid soils and landscapes in the Atacama Desert. This project will shed a new light on critical eco-geomorphological transitions in terrestrial and extra-terrestrial hyper-arid soil-landscape systems.
