MAINTAINING LIVELIHOODS BY PROTECTING LIVESTOCK

Ethiopie

Titre : MAINTAINING LIVELIHOODS BY PROTECTING LIVESTOCK

Pays  : Ethiopie

Date/Durée : Dec 2021 // June 2026

Projet ID : ETH 1191-20

Description
Southern Ethiopia is home to many pastoralists farming crops and livestock. Increasingly frequent droughts are destroying the pastures and water sources that farm animals rely on. Livestock owners are forced to sell or butcher their animals before they die of thirst or hunger, leaving them without a source of future income. Welthungerhilfe is supporting 4,500 households, e.g. by providing drought-resistant seeds, digging ponds, or improving the quality of pasturelands. In addition, veterinary care for livestock is made available so that pastoralists do not lose their valuable capital.
