Résumé
The Andean highlands are characterized by their constant exposure to extreme weather events, which negatively impacts crop yields. The present study seeks to evaluate the robustness of the AquaCrop model as an alternative for the prediction of quinoa crop performance in different environments and management practices. The performance of the model was evaluated for three quinoa varieties (Pasankalla, Salcedo INIA and Blanca de Juli) in Taraco, Puno, Peru. The model was calibrated with the planting date of November 7, 2018, where “good” performance was obtained for the canopy cover (NRMSE<20%, EF>0.75, d>0.90 and R²>0.5) and a "good" to "acceptable or fair" performance was obtained for the above-ground dry biomass (10%0.75, d>0.90 and R²>0.5). Subsequently, the model was validated with the data obtained during calibration and tested for the planting date October 25, 2018, obtaining a “good” performance for canopy cover (NRMSE<20%, EF>0.75, d>0.90 and R²>0. 5) and "acceptable or fair" performance for the above-ground dry biomass (NRMSE<30%, EF>0.75, d>0.90 and R²>0.5). Therefore, the AquaCrop model showed robustness when simulating quinoa crop performance under Peruvian highlands conditions.
