Résumé
The Ker space is located in Baghere, in the Sedhiou region of southern Senegal and is intended for all the females of the village. The overall design occurred after researching the climatic and geological characteristics as well as the ethnological elements, history, religion and art of the Casamance region. The area of design contains the building complex, which consists of two individual volumes. These accommodate an administrative space, an education space, a residential and creative activity space and a communication space (safe space). Furthermore, two semi-outdoor uses, a garden and an amphitheatre, as well as a playground are also integrated in to the complex. In the second zone, a circular structure for communication and a gathering space around a tree (African Baobab) are placed. Finally, in the third zone, there will be cultivating areas and a space for the sale of products (sheltered market and storage area). Through out the site, ever green and deciduous trees (Acacia Albida, Mango tree) have been selected to enhance shade and low vegetation (Cenchrus, Aristida) to enclose the site. Vitellaria trees, millet, sorghum and African Yam beans are suggested for the crops. Paving stones, compacted soil, sand and compacted soil with tile fragments are placed in the function areas while the natural soil is maintained in the rest of the plot.
