Résumé
The main aim of this study is to determine the fate of soil bacterial communities before and during their passage between phases (desiccation and hydration). To achieve this aim, we explored three hydration-desiccation cycles of different length : (I) A months-long one to choose which type of analysis (DNA or RNA) is most suitable to our soil and its changes ; (II) A days-long one to study changes in the active and total bacterial communities in the biological soil crust (biocrust) ; (III) A 24-hours-long one, to understand the patterns of petrichor emission upon soil wetting and its effect on the soil bacterial community. The results of this study supplied new insights into wetting and drying processes that promote and restore bacterial diversity in soi
