Résumé
The research examines the dominance of the region and neighboring countries over Afghanistan’s water resources based on the importance of water in international security. The UN and the EU’s efforts to reduce the disputes arising from cross-border, border-bound and shared waters and their arrangements for declining fresh water resources have been tried to be addressed. Increases of water disputes in arid and semi-arid regions and the works of international organizations at this level are explained. Strategic project games over transboundary water resources of Afghanistan are in the interest of the region and neighboring countries. The reasons for the prevention of infrastructure projects are explained by the instability of foreign interventions in Afghanistan and the continuation of the civil war. Afghanistan’s neighboring countries discuss water disputes with international water law and the fair and reasonable use of transboundary waters. Afghanistan and the countries of the region are concerned with the possibility of war between water and the threat of water wars to regional security.
