With regards to sustainability, current climate problems, and the need for environmentally friendly construction solutions, raw earth architecture, especially adobe architecture, is a great constructive low-impact option. To validate the material as a solution for walls, one of the most relevant aspects is its thermal behavior, if its properties and characteristics guarantee a proper construction of the Brazilian local climate. For this purpose, the information was investigated in the present literature, which discusses the attributes of adobe, or raw earth block, as a construction material, focusing on the behavior of its main thermal properties and the relationships between its characteristics. Them, papers that evaluated the thermal behavior of adobe for Brazilian bioclimatic zones, or for climates found in Brazil were presented. In sequence, density, conductivity, thermal transmittance, specific heat and thermal capacitance values were compiled in tables and identified by reference numbers and type of material. The properties of the adobe were then analyzed for adequacy in the four main regulations that specify the performance of walls for buildings in Brazil, NBR 15220, NBR 15575, RTQ-C and Selo Casa Azul. It was found that adobe presents a significant potential as a solution for civil construction with less impact to the environment while at the same time it can meet the requirements of comfort standards for bioclimatic zones of the country.
