Résumé
Morocco is an Arab and Muslim country with strong Berber ties, and historical roots from its neighbour, the European Continent. Its geographical location it soon caught up the interest of the colonial European people and served as a strategically point for the African commercial routes. It is that same location that it still attracts thousands of illegal migrants that try to reach Europe. With the Schengen Agreement, European Union transferred to its external borders all the control of people and goods. In an era where Islamism suffers the stigma of terrorism, the Mediterranean gained special relevance between Europe and Africa. Morocco has been seen by the European Union as a bridge to its frontiers for numerous illegal immigrants. Because of that, several agreements and programs have been signed aiming to intensify the controls behind their own frontiers. This study aims to present in general the Morocco´s Migration Policies and show how those same Policies where influenced by the European Policies, and its consequences. At the same time we try to understand the position of Morocco as a country of origin, transit or final destination of those illegal immigrants.
