Résumé
Understanding the socio-environmental conditions of a region can be an important basis for the proper use of natural resources, since it is from the detailed description of its socioeconomic aspects it is possible to minimize environmental and economic problems, as well as allowing the adoption of plans that towards their sustainable balance. The Sertão Alagoano Canal is one of the main water works that took place in the state, with the aim of promoting access to water and improving the living conditions of the region’s residents. It should be noted that actions aimed at the organization, planning and management of the territory are essential to the consolidation of paradigms, related to the state of environmental protection, in particular, of water resources, essential for the development and sustainability of the geographic space. Therefore, the present investigation had the main purpose to analyze the socioeconomic conditions and the environmental perception of the population regarding the possible hydro-environmental problems resulting from the construction and installation of the Sertão Alagoano Canal.
