Résumé
Global climate change is a matter of great concern that threatens the Universe especially the adverse effect on water resources in the past few decades. Climate-related calamities such as floods, droughts and landslides have devastating effects. In the future, the effect of environment disasters is bound to aggravate because of the progressions in the normal climatic conditions and the scale and frequency of alterations in climatic factors. The scale and frequency alterations in climatic variables increase the severity of extreme climate events such as floods, heatwaves and droughts. In addition, the climate model projections showed an increase in the global mean surface air temperature (IPCC, 2001). This increase will probably prompt huge and unexpected changes in the hydrological cycle, especially precipitation and temperature. newlineWater is the elixir of human life in developing countries like India, and one of the primary natural resources vulnerable to climate change. Thus, it is essential to perform a climate change impact assessment to identify the vulnerable regions concerning water accessibility and farming practices. The Tamiraparani River Basin is one of the semi-arid basins in Tamilnadu, having an irregular rainfall pattern, high-temperature rates, series of flood events which explained the climate variability and change in the river basin. Thus, the study intended to examine the pattern and change point in the climatic factors, temperature indices, and precipitation attributes through an anomaly record and a precipitation concentration index. Henceforth, an attempt has also made to estimate the correlation study of rainfall and temperature with streamflow and groundwater and between streamflow and groundwater.
