Résumé
The overall objective of this thesis was to investigate how the arbuscular mycorrhizal (AM) symbiosis can affect the growth, biomass, essential oils and artemisinin content of Artemisia annua L.

Results of the present study clearly demonstrate the effectiveness of AM fungi in enhancing the growth and biomass production of Artemisia annua. Simultaneously, the data also indicates that mycorrhizal symbiosis has a potential importance in increasing the mineral nutrition and yield of essential oil content and artemisinin concentration of this plant.

It is thought that any AM fungus and host plant combination is possible, but that the colonization rates and types of mycorrhizal association formed differ between the individual combinations and are controlled by the interplay of fungal and plant genomes
