Résumé
The changing weather pattern poses serious effects such as water stress, leading to drought in India. Drought is a natural disaster whose occurrence is not known but impacts the environment if kept unnoticed. Understanding the drought physiognomies exposes, predicts, and monitors the drought condition and prevents future occurrences. An attempt has been made to assess the drought severity condition by integrating remote sensing and GIS technology using hybrid techniques in Chengalpattu district, Tamil Nadu, India. Chengalpattu district experienced a significant flood in the year 2015. Post-flood event, there was variations in temperature and insufficient rainfall, which led to the change in land-use patterns. The present study reports the statistical, experimental, and analytical assessment of drought severity condition, which was observed with the long-term rainfall information over 30 years, temperature, soil moisture, and groundwater availability. Field validation was performed to identify the soil moisture which plays a major role in determining the drought condition
