Résumé
The breeding materials used herein included eight parents i.e. five promising landraces for drought tolerant selected by National Gene Bank and Genetic Resources according to IPGRI P1, P2, P3, P4 and P5 and three cultivars wheat (Gemmeiza 9(P6), Sahel 1 (P7) and Yacora Kojo (P8)) In the first season 2008/2009, eight parents grown at various planting dates in order to overcome the differences in time of heading during this season at Sids Agricultural Research Station Biniswef Governorate, Egypt. All possible parental combinations without reciprocals were made among the eight parents. In the second season 2009/2010 two experiments were conducted at Al- Gemmeiza Station, Gharbia Governorate, Egypt. Each experiment included the eight parents and their 28 possible crosses, which were sown on 24th November, in a randomized complete blocks design with three replications. The first experiment was irrigated only once after planting irrigation (stress) and the second one was normally irrigated. Each plot consisted of one row ; each row was 1.5meters long and 30 cm apart. Plants within row were 20 cm. apart. Dry method of planting was used in this concern ; the other cultivars practices of growing wheat were properly practiced. Data were recorded on ten guarded plants randomly sampled from each plot for physiological traits ; leaf temperature (LT), transpiration rate (TR), stomatal conductance (SC) and net photosynthesis rate (Pn) and morphological and yield components ; heading date (days), maturity date (days), grain filling period (days), plant height (cm), spike length (cm), no. of spikes /plant, no of spikelets/spike, no. of kernels /spike, 1000-Kernel weight (g), grain yield/plant (g) ; and chemical analysis ; protein percentage, carbohydrate percentage and ash percentage.
