Résumé
This study was conducted at the research farm of the Department of Research and Training in Rice - Sakha - Kafr El-Sheikh, and the Department of Biotechnology and Molecular Biology at the University of Sheffield - United Kingdom. The objectives of this study were :
1. Evaluation of the performance of some genotypes from Egyptian rice under drought and water shortage conditions.
2. Determination of differences in physiological and biochemical responses between drought-tolerant and sensitive rice cultivars.
3. Study of Functional Expression of Genes Associated with Drought Tolerance in Rice in the Most Drought-tolerant Strains by qRT-PCR
4. Verification of the presence of some quantitative trait loci (QTLs) associated with drought tolerance in some selected strains under field conditions.
5. Development and breeding of a rice variety tolerant of drought conditions by collecting many drought tolerance genes from different sources.
