Résumé
The current study aims to study the effect of surface and subsurface irrigation systems on productivity and quality of sugar beet plant, identify the salinity level and water quantities which effect the productivity and quality of sugar beet, determine the water use efficiency of sugar beet under soil and water saline conditions and root penetration coefficient with both surface and subsurface drip irrigation systems. The experiments were conducted in Ras Sudr Research Station at Desert Research Center at South Sinai Government during two growing seasons 2017/2018 and 2018/2019. The spilt plot design was used with 3 replications with a plot area of 24 m² where the irrigation water systems were allocated in the main plot and the salinity levels and water quantities in sub plats. Seeds of sugar beet were sown on the 3rd October and 20th April was harvested date in both growing seasons. Results showed subsurface irrigation system was revealed the highest values to irrigate sugar beet plants and it’s gave the highest productivity values of root and sugar yield, and water productivity of root yield compared with surface drip irrigation system on water productivity on root and sugar yield. Increasing water salinity level from 6000 to 8000ppm leads to decrease of root and sugar yield, as well as water use efficiency. On the other hand, increasing salinity levels leads to increase of penetration power. Increasing of irrigation water quantities from 1750 up to 3250 m³/fed. leads to increase of root yield from 10.85 to 19.6 t/fed. While, when reducing water quantities leads to decrease of each sugar yield/fed., water use efficiency of root and sugar yield and penetration power of sugar beet plants under saline conditions. All the interaction between the studies treatment effects on root and sugar yields as well as water use efficiency of sugar yield and penetration power where highly significant effected excepted water use efficiency of sugar yield was not significantly reached effects, and these was true for each interaction between of them on the studies characters.
