Descriptif
The objectives of this study were : • To identify and document the plant genetic resources of the research area. • To obtain a better understanding of the knowledge of rural populations on wild neglected fruit tree and shrub species, and identify interactions between wild and cultivated plants in the research area. • To conserve and protect the genetic resources and to contribute to a sustainable use of natural resources. • To evaluate homegardens’ contribution to the conservation, maintenance and domestication of plant genetic resources and wild relatives. • To develop methods for analysing ethnobotanical, socioeconomic, sociocultural and gender issues that affect the distribution of species. • To classify homegardens according to socioeconomic and agroecologic variables.

Furthermore, this survey focuses on the identification and documentation of plant genetic resources, evaluates the use of wild neglected fruit trees and shrub species, and classifies homegardens in terms of socioeconomic and agroecologic variables. This provides benefits to both scholars and scientists with a framework for further research in other areas of Iran. The following research questions were derived from the above-mentioned objectives of the survey.
