Résumé
This theoretical study proffers a cultural-psychological perspective for the analysis of familiy relationships in Iran. This culturally-based alternative perspective distances itself from the uncritical advocacy and application of universalistic Euro-American psychological concepts withhin other socio- cultural contexts. In my study I set out by thematising the cultural-specific framework of family life as well as indigenous concepts which deeply influence interaction within families in Iran and wich can prove instructive when formulating theories from an Iranian perspective. The analysis of the specific forms of how emotions are expressed in an Iranian family, for example in partner relationships and family relationships is based on results of socio- linguistic research in a wider communicative context in Iran. Finally I make some suggestions derived from the above-mentioned theoretical perspective for cultural-specific professional support in the field of family therapy in Iran.
