Bayinwendur Desert is located in the western region of Inner Mongolia,with a fragile ecological environment and serious desertification.Afforestation is one of the effective methods to control desertification.Ammopiptanthus mongolicus is an important afforestation tree species in the region,and the planting method and watering had great effects on the survival,preservation rate and growth status of Ammopiptanthus mongolicus plantations.In order to play a better role in sand fixation in Bayinwendur Desert,increase the vegetation coverage and improve the local ecological environment.This study took Huhe Windur at the southern foot of Wolf Mountain,Urat Houqi,Bayannur City,the southern edge of Bayinwendur Desert as the experimental site,and the seeds are collected from the Urat Houqi Wulijisumu artificial forest in the Bayinwendur Desert as the research object.The survival rate,preservation rate and aboveground and underground growth status of Ammopiptanthus mongolicus artificial forests with 0 cm,20 cm,40 cm and 60 cm planting depth and watering frequency of 4 times/year,5 times/year and 6 times/year were investigated,as well as the changes of physiological characteristics such as leaf photosynthetic pigment,osmotic regulatory substance and antioxidant enzyme activity were experimented and analyzed.The main findings are as follows :(1)With the increase of planting depth and watering frequency,the survival rate and preservation rate of young Ammopiptanthus mongolicus plantation showed an upward trend,when the planting depth is more than 40 cm,watering more than 5 times(watering amount is 50 kg/plant/time),the survival rate of Ammopiptanthus mongolicus can reach100%,and the preservation rate greater than or equal to 80%.(2)From the perspective of aboveground morphological indicators,with the increase of planting depth and watering frequency,the height,crown width and diameter of Ammopiptanthus mongolicus showed an increasing trend,and the planting depth of 20 cm was significantly higher than 0 cm,and the watering of 5 times was significantly greater than 4 times.
