Water Innovations Technologies (WIT) - Jordan

Titre : Water Innovations Technologies (WIT) - Jordan

Pays/Région : Jordanie

Durée  : April 17, 2017 - December 31, 2017

Jordan’s water scarcity has reached critical levels as its rapidly modernizing society, coupled with an influx of Syrian refugees, has put new demands on its limited supplies. In some northern communities, water demand has quadrupled as Syrian refugees arrived. Tensions likely will only rise over this increasingly limited resource. Water conservation is critical but, in advance of price incentives and greater regulation, public and private sector entities urgently need an integrated effort to offer support and services to farmers, households and communities that encourage and facilitate adoption of water saving technologies. The Water Innovations Technologies (WIT) Programme aims to create the enabling environment through providing technical support, demonstrations, credit facilities etc to achieve the ambitious goal of conserving 18.6 M cubic metres (of which 75% is to be groundwater) over the 5 year duration of WIT.
