Descriptif WE4F is a joint international initiative of USAID, BMZ, the Foreign Ministry of the Netherlands and Sida. WE4F aims to : (i) Increase food production along the value chain through a more sustainable and efficient usage of water and/or energy ; (ii) Increase income for base of the pyramid women and men in both rural and urban areas ; (iii) Sustainably scale innovators’ solutions to meet the challenges in the WE4F nexus ; and (iv) promote climate and environmental resilience and biodiversity through the sustainable, holistic management of natural resources and ecosystems. There are four Regional Innovation Hubs (RIHs) : East Africa, MENA, South and South East Asia and West Africa. IWMI is a consortium member for the WE4F MENA RIH. The initial program is US$9.5m but additional USAID mission buy-in is expected for another US$10m over the life of the program. The MENA RIH hub focuses on impact-oriented mid to later-stage WEF enterprises and provides an opportunity to catalyze innovation and bring localized solutions to the region.
