Pays : Egypte
Identifiant : EGY/23/01/RBS
Date/Durée : Start date : February 1, 2023 End date : December 31, 2024
Résumé
The intervention addresses the need to promote the care economy in Egypt as a means of supporting women’s economic empowerment. Based on an assessment of the applicability, effectiveness and validity of several childcare models, the ILO supports enterprises to establish nurseries and other alternative and innovative solutions to address childcare challenges. The strategy includes coaching to enable women to start or formalize their businesses in the nurseries and related child-care services. The main partners in this intervention are the Ministry of Social Solidarity (MOSS), the Federation of Egyptian Industries (FEI), the Egyptian Trade Union Federation (ETUF), the Micro, Small and Medium Enterprises Development Agency (MSMEDA) and UNICEF. The expected results of the intervention are : 1) increased capacities of tripartite constituents in Egypt to promote, through social dialogue, investments in the care economy that enhance job creation, working conditions and women’s labour force participation ; 2) increased capacity of business service providers to develop childcare services through entrepreneurship promotion, including specific support for transition from the informal to the formal economy ; and 3) enhanced skills and employability of women leading to improved access to decent jobs in childcare and to the creation of women-led businesses in the care economy.
