Descriptif partiel
This project is going to be implemented in Yallo and Megale woredas of Afar regional state in Ethiopia. It will focus on providing humanitarian support to 11,328 IDPs and IDP-hosting households. Due to the conflict in Tigray residents in the border woredas of Afar and Tigray region fled to neighbouring Afar woredas for their safety and in fear of enrolment to military. Majority of the Tigrayan IDPs interviewed (by the joint assessment mission) were young people (some are 14 to 16-year-old), who fled for their safety and in fear of enrolment to military. Some of Afari were displaced from villages within the Tigray region and others from villages along the border with Tigray in the Afar region. They need food items, non-food items, medicine, clean water, shelter, and protection services. The project will apply relevant technical standards such as SPHERE in the design and actual implementation of this project. There are six sectors that will be addressed through this project : WASH (water trucking, provision of soaps, water chemicals and sanitary pads) ; Health (provision of essential supplies such as medicines and drugs) ; NFI/Shelter are the top three interventions we intend to focus on to respond to the humanitarian needs of IDPs due to Tigray crisis and host community in Afar, while nutrition (food and oil), education (provision of PPEs and other scholastic materials for schools) and protection and GBV being the second group of sectors that this project will focus on. In five months period (April to August 2021) we intend to register the following results : Impact : Contribute towards improved lifesaving support to IDPs and IDP-hosting households and protection of members of these households.
