Titre : Lifesaving Emergency Nutrition and Protection Response for most vulnerable Afar conflict affected people

Pays : Ethiopie
Localisation : Afar Region

Dates : 15.08.2021 – 30.09.2023

Contexte
The Afar Region of Ethiopia is facing a difficult humanitarian emergency due to the conflict in Northern Ethiopia. Renewed armed clashes across Zone 2 of Afar region have resulted in thousands of people displaced since mid-December 2021. An estimated 80,000 children under five years old and pregnant and lactating women (PLW) need malnutrition preventative and treatment interventions. However, only 22% of the 414 facilities available in the region are currently functional, including two hospitals and 31 health centres.

Moreover, women and children are particularly at risk for sexual exploitation and abuse and are exposed to negative coping mechanisms such as child labor, transactional sex, and harmful practices. Women and girls have been victims of rape and sexual violence when they fled from the outbreaking conflict.
