Descriptif
This is a one - year Education Project targeting two primary school institutions in Kilifi county. The project seeks to improve educational infrastructure, enhanced learning environment, school retention, transition, advocacy on child protection rights as well as creating a culture of environmental conservation. The overall literacy rate in Kilifi County stands at 68% with 51% being men while 49% being women. There are 756 primary and 249 secondary schools catering for an estimated 287,562 and 60,936 students, respectively. Drug and substance abuse (DSA), poverty or lack of fees, child labour, absenteeism of teachers and students and teenage pregnancy as well as early marriages are the main issues affecting education in the county. Therefore, there is need to improve school environment making it conducive for the students. The project will work directly with 767 children (400 girls and 367 boys) in 2 local schools in Kilifi towards the realization of the Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) number 4 which aims at achieving inclusive and equitable quality education and promote lifelong learning opportunities for all. As well as working towards the realization of environmental conservation and protection.
