Descriptif
IRK proposes emergency drought response to support 2000 families (12,000 rightsholders) in Wajir (Wajir west, Eldas& Wajir North sub counties) and Garissa County (Balambala and Lagdera Sub Counties) who have been severely affected by the drought, through ; (1) unconditional cash transfer where each family will receive Kshs 6000 (USD 60) per Household. Each household would be spending approximately USD 2 a day for a family of 6 members for 30 days which is equivalent to 60 USD. (2) Provision of fast-moving spare parts and rehabilitation of 6 strategic water points to support water facilities cope with high demand as well as construction of at least 3 underground water tanks to water tracking centres/location. (3) Support to livestock diseases surveillance and vaccination. The identified intervention sectors Cash transfer and provision of fast-moving spare parts and rehabilitation of strategic water points are in line with the overall County drought response plan/strategy developed by the multiagency.
