Circular Textile Recycling (Morocco)

Maroc

Titre : Circular Textile Recycling (Morocco)

Pays : Maroc

Dates : Start date : 1 April 2019 // End date : 13 May 2021

Identification projet : NL-KVK-27378529-DHIF19I032

Programme : Demonstration projects, feasibility studies and investment preparation studies (DHI)

Présentation
General objective is to investigate if the investment in a new production facility of circular textile recycling in Morocco is feasible.

Which machinery and which lay-out is necessary for an optimal production process and production flow in the new factory ? This is rather complex, mainly because similar circular production units of recycled used textiles simply do not exist. There is no constant flow of the same kind of raw materials which is coming in regarding fabrics and quality. Having an optimal outflow out of different kind of used textiles which are coming in, is a challenge. Furthermore, it should be investigated which land plot meets best the preferences of Wolkat. Land plots will be selected and will be judged regarding surface, size and availability of utilities and infrastructure.

There has to be investigated if current employees want to move to the new location and if there are sufficient qualified personnel available. Within three years the expectation is to grow with 150-200 additional employees. Of course, this will have a huge impact on the organisational structure. The labour circumstances and safety instructions should remain according Western standards.

It has to be clarified clearly to what extent customers are really committed to purchase from Wolkat in terms of turnover. Risks regarding owner properties, destination plans and permit procedures should be investigated per selected land plot. A solid financial analysis with corresponding investment plan will be necessary in which the financial feasibility of the investment should be clear.

The factory should meet all Western environment standards even if these are more severe than those of Morocco. Wolkat is completely focused on reduction of ‘waste’ and wants to implement environmentally friendly solutions in the factory where possible.
