Women in Eldas, Wajir West, Wajir Town and Wajir North are socially and economically empowered to attain sustainable livelihoods and rights fulfilment through a 6-month project which is to be implemented in Wajir County in North Eastern Kenya. The project will collaborate with existing women’s groups in Wajir, the technical gender working group, government departments, other non-governmental agencies with programmes of similar nature, as well as with civil organizations and local communities. The project will build the capacity of women in key areas that are conducive to sustainable livelihoods and to an enabling environment for women’s rights fulfilment. Activities to be implemented under this project include : training in natural resource management, business, group savings and loans operations, key life skills, and facilitation of women’s participation and representation in political platforms. Lastly, the project will also provide inputs for livelihoods activities as well as facilitate linkages to financial institutions and private sector actors.
