Emergency Response to Communities Affected by Floods in Kenya
Titre : Emergency Response to Communities Affected by Floods in Kenya
Pays : Kenya
Code : 020_002730
Date de clôture : 2018-09-24
Descriptif
IRK proposes a four-month emergency flood response to provide 1,500 families (9,000 beneficiaries) in Garissa town, who have been displaced and severely affected by the floods, with essential food supplies, non-food and hygiene items, shelter kits as well as build community capacity on adequate hygiene and sanitation practices. The intervention will enable communities to meet their immediate food needs, and manage risks associated with potential water-bourne and communicable diseases, as well as provide shelter support to the most vulnerable community members. If the crisis continues and the situation deteriorates further as predicted, IRK would seek to extend the project scale and scope to also support the county government in provision of more shelter, support additional health initiatives as well as ensure clean water supply. IRK will engage in additional fundraising efforts to meet increased needs. IRK does not anticipate the need to down-scale the project, however, if required IRK would discuss with the donor some feasible options of re-allocating the funding to support recovery and post-disaster rehabilitation efforts of the target communities.
