Descriptif
Islamic Relief Somalia is proposing provision of school breakfast for 600 students in 3 IDP settlements (stated above) where IRS is implementing education project enhancing access to education for vulnerable IDP children affected by the floods and conflicts in Beledweyne. The intervention will provide Breakfast food for 600 students for 6 months. Each student will be provided breakfast which contains : Bread/Canjeera, Meat/Suqar, Tea and water. The school breakfast will be delivered to the school on daily basis at the break time. For Covid-19 prevention for the beneficiaries, the school feeding will be delivered through full consideration of prevention measures including proper handwashing and social distance. Therefore, IRS will ensure safe food delivery and hygiene promotion sessions to be integrated with school feeding. IRS hygiene promoters will conduct on daily hygiene awareness sessions enhancing the communities’ knowledge and application of key measures for covid-19 mitigation in the IDP settlements. To avoid overlap and duplication with similar school feeding intervention in the area, Islamic Relief Somalia will target the school it supports in Beledweyne town, and will continue to work in coordination with other humanitarian organization with ongoing FSL response in the district. As well, IRS constantly attends food security cluster meetings. Regarding to the protection of the affected communities, IRS is committed to ensuring safe programming and mainstreaming protection at all stages of this project. Mainstreaming protection in the project will significantly mitigate the impact of exclusion of marginalized groups, particularly women from decision-making processes and ensure that their needs are met, as well as those people with specific needs (PSNs). IRS will create avenues to enhance PSN’s and women’s opportunities to decide and manage community activities by ensuring that they are consulted and targeted to participate. The integration of protection staff in the project team will help ensure the implementation of key activities beyond basic safe programming and Do No Harm approaches. Delivery of the project services will be done safely for all target beneficiaries. Furthermore, IRS will seek to integrate protection and humanitarian services, prevent exploitation and abuse, identify risks and threats, and take appropriate steps to report violations. There will be referral mechanisms for any protection cases that might arise. IR Somalia has well established complaints and response mechanism, which will be used in this project. Building the awareness of the beneficiaries, authority representatives involved in the emergency response on protection issues will also be done in order to ensure that duty bearers are aware of their responsibility when it comes to protection of the floods affected people and the affected people aware also their rights to claim projection in case they are violated.
