Descriptif
The proposed Project will be implemented in Afgoye district. The district has high agricultural potential and suffers high poverty levels. The project is expected to benefit 3,000 household (or 18,000 individuals) in the area. The primary target groups are : (i) Rural poor living in extreme poverty, who are either landless or are producing a bare subsistence minimum on HH plots ; (ii) Subsistence and semi-subsistence farmers, in particular those willing to move to commercial farming ; (iii) Rural underemployed and self-employed ; and (iv) Private entrepreneurs with strong backward linkages to poor rural communities and have the capacity to provide agricultural services like input supplier or agricultural produce offtakes. Within these groups. The project will be place emphasis on reaching poor women, particularly female-headed HH and youth.
