Descriptif
The proposed project seeks to improve the food security and livelihood situation of 2455 households (13,011 individuals) through agriculture, livestock support. The project is primarily designed based on the priorities of the Food Security and Livelihood (FSL) cluster for 2021, secondary data, unstructured interviews, and experience from the IR Syria field team. Islamic Relief will conduct a detailed household-level need assessment to identify, 255 families to provide with agricultural vouchers include (seeds, pesticide, fungicide) and support with the agricultural kit (fertilizers and harvests bags) and support them with the fuel of irrigation. These families will be provided with agricultural training to improve their knowledge and practices to get the best yields. The families will further be supported through links with the markets so that the crops can be marketed well and ultimately the sale of which can increase the household level of income. Each targeted household will cultivate 2500 square meters of land with summer vegetables (cucumber or Watermelon or Zucchini or Beans or Okra) 700 families will be provided by feed, and training. The training provides skill development training for women on veterinary health care and income generation from animal products by marketing the production in local markets and micro home business management, so the project will work on building these women’s capacity and finally the project contributes to the preservation of the remaining severely drained livestock numbers. more than 1500 livestock breeders will receive veterinary services (test livestock and provide suitable drug) and that will decrease the number of livestock deaths, raising the health level of animals, increasing animal production and increase income generation for families, and helping them to keep their livestock as a productive asset by providing veterinary services. All beneficiary groups will continue to receive follow-up training and advice over the course of the project from the field project team hired for this purpose. It is anticipated that the direct beneficiaries will share this improved knowledge will their relatives, peers, and friends living nearby hence the knowledge transfer will help to improve the livelihood practices for the rest of the community also. Given the particular sensitivities related to women engaging in income-generating activities a careful weighing of the risks associated with providing such support will be undertaken to ensure that no harm comes to beneficiaries or field staff.
